Have you recently found yourself in circles of conversation discussing what is missing within surfing? Do you feel as if there is a gap or a void?
Saturday was one for those days that doesn’t happen to often in North Florida. On Friday, the waves were ankle high till about 4pm then jumped up to overhead Southeast wind slop. The wind turned off shore right at day break on Saturday and quickly cleaned the swell up. For 8 straight hours the waves were pumping and nonstop. Crazy how insane the timing was for this swell.

Florida Board Riders was created to #RecycleTheStoke. Generations of surfers recycling the love of the sport by giving back to their community. We partner with different organizations and host surf focused programs to introduce individuals to the beautiful and healing sport of surfing. Funds collected by the organization through member dues, partnerships, grants and donations will be distributed to the public through Florida Board Rider programing.
Organizations we have partnered with in our first two years include: Surfear Negra , Heal Foundation , Special Olympics , Boys & Girls Club , Task Hydro Force , Wounded Warriors , surfers Healing , Get A Board and many others. These programs are our main function while also building strong and healthy surf communities through education and environmental stewardship. Local city surf clubs have had major impacts in their community by carrying out these programs and also raising funds for those in need in their community along with scholarships for surfers transitioning into higher education.
Your donation to the Florida Board Riders will go directly to starting the movement of board riders clubs in Florida. FLBR is 501 c 3 nonprofit organization.
December 10th 2022 was all-time in Central Florida. If you weren’t there, by the time you read this you have probably already seen clips on your social feed or been texted (or called) by a friend who told you all about it. As the sun peeked over the horizon you couldn’t help but hear the catchy riff from the Sandals that accompanied Bruce Brown’s famous 1966 surf film, it was that good.
The Florida Board Riders is pleased to announce the formation of a grassroots organization meant to brighten the future of surfing in beach communities in the Sunshine State. A staple of surf communities around the world, Board Rider clubs foster fun, safety, self-esteem, ocean and environmental-stewardship, and community engagement for surfers of all ages through friendly competitions and other events.

Just as Florida homes are built on strong foundations, the Florida Board Riders will build off the rich history and legacy of surfing in the state. The Florida Board Riders is already working with partners in surf communities throughout the state to establish local chapters. Each club will carry out various mission-aligned events, including contests, charitable drives, beach cleanups, ocean conservation education, water safety training, surf movie nights, and more.
The culmination of these efforts will be the 2020-2021 Florida Board Riders Competition series, which will pit clubs from all across the sunshine state in a team format surf contest. Each club will be represented by the best surfers in all age groups from their respective area.
The Florida Boardriders is a nonprofit organization with a 501 c 3 status. Funds collected by the organization through member dues, partnerships, and donations will be distributed to member clubs to facilitate the main functions of the Florida Board Riders in their local area.
